What was the first project in your career?
What’s the one project you’ve worked on through Upwork or any other platform that totally surprised you—either because of a crazy challenge, a strange request from the client, or just something that really made you get out of your comfort zone?
Let me start first
I started my career with Facebook and Instagram ads – the company was a startup but had like 2 verticals – 3rd party recruitment and Visa processing for all domains like education, travel, medical etc.
My job was to generate leads, filter those leads, set appointments, make sure they show up on the date of appointment and introduce them with client representative.
The initial challenge was that I had zero knowledge of how Facebook ads worked but the guy working earlier had absconded hence there was a vacancy.
So I started understanding how it worked and Udemy helped me a lot in the initial phase and then it was easy peasy.
Few months down the line and I had achieved a ROAS of more than 5x on the ad spend.
Learned a lot from that first job, everything I did like lead gen, calling, appointment setting, helping the candidate reach the office location and then the final stage of introduction.
The biggest challenge was that candidates used to have cold feet on the day of appointment due to various reasons like nervousness, anxiety or sometimes they couldn’t get some time off from their existing jobs but convincing them and making sure they at least reschedule next day or same week was something like a tug of war but I am happy that I faced those challenges and I am now able to understand people and their situations better.
