Has anyone actually used a Varta 100Ah battery long term?
I’m hoping someone here has real world experience with this because I’ve read so many conflicting things online that I don’t know what to believe anymore. I’ve got a 2019 Mercedes GLE that needs a 100Ah battery, and after doing a bit of research I keep coming back to Varta as the brand to go for, partly because so many people say they handle the heat here better than the cheaper alternatives. But then I found an honest review of the Varta 100Ah battery that raised a few points I hadn’t considered, like how the warranty works in practice and whether the performance holds up after a couple of years rather than just in the first few months, and now I’m second guessing myself. The thing is I’m not just replacing a battery, I’m trying to avoid having to do this again in eighteen months, so I want something that genuinely lasts rather than something that looks good on paper. My current battery has done about four years and it’s been fine until recently, but the slow cranking has started and the start stop system gave up a while back, which I’m told is usually the first sign. What I’d really like to know from anyone who’s owned one is whether the Varta 100Ah actually lived up to the claims, how long it lasted before showing any weakness, and whether the warranty was straightforward to claim if anything went wrong. I’ve also heard mixed things about whether these bigger AGM batteries need anything special during installation, like registering them to the car’s computer, and whether skipping that step really does shorten their life. If anyone has been through this and come out the other side, I’d really appreciate hearing the honest version, including the bits that weren’t great, because I’d rather go in with realistic expectations than a glossy picture that turns out to be nonsense.
