Overheating only on long uphill drives, fine otherwise
I’ve got a 2014 BMW X5 xDrive35i with the N55 engine. The car runs perfectly normal around town and on the highway, but when I go up into the mountains or drive on a long uphill section, the temperature gauge starts creeping past the middle. As soon as I level out or go downhill, it drops back to normal. I’ve replaced the thermostat and water pump already, and the coolant is full. A friend said it could be a partially clogged radiator or maybe the fan clutch isn’t working at full speed. I’m getting worried it might be the head gasket starting to fail. I need to find a shop that offers Skilled Head Gasket Abu Dhabi and can do a proper diagnosis like a combustion leak test and a compression test. Has anyone here had overheating only under load on an N55 and found it was something simple like a bad radiator fan? Also wondering if a failing electric water pump could work intermittently. The car has 150k km on it and I really don’t want to blow the engine. Any advice on what to check first or a good specialist in Abu Dhabi would be great. Thanks.
