You are definitely not alone man! I used to feel the same. My tip to you would be to write proposals like a semi casual conversation first, then polish afterward. Makes it feel less formal. I saw Sagar’s post of how someone addressed the problem faced by the client and also mentioning the 12 years or so experience in the first line. I think opening statements like this are the key to getting seen among the ocean of proposals.
